An Eye-Witness Account of a Traffic Accident
It was June 20, 2021, Friday. The accident happened about half past eight in the morning when I was on my way to school. I was waiting at the bus stop on the West Road and suddenly heard a loud scream of car brakes coming from nearby. Out of instinct, I turned around and saw what happened at that moment.
It was a crash between a truck and a taxi. Before the accident, the truck loaded with steel bars were moving slowly in the center of the road and a taxi was impatiently following it. Then, the taxi was trying to overtake the tuck when the truck suddenly turned left, intending to avoid a girl crossing the road. Seeing this, the taxi-driver was trying very hard to pull up the car but couldnt help but bumped into the trailer of the truck. Both cars slid forward a few meters before they stopped fully. Five minutes later, an ambulance and a police wagon arrived. The taxi-driver was taken onto the ambulance and I could see some blood on his head and face. The truck driver seemed still panic, standing freezingly at the side of the road. I could see some damages on both cars.
As for the cause of the accident, I didnt see it quite clearly but heard other passers-by say that the truck driver was talking on the mobile phone while driving in the center of the road. Another cause may be the girl. The traffic signs indicate that pedestrians are forbidden crossing the road at that time.
