记得那年金秋，我满心欢喜地踏入了中学的校门，遐想中学生活的美好，憧憬着，向往着。但我却不知道，自己笑对的是一条艰苦而漫长的路。小学从未接触过英语的我，在那些陌生的单词和音标面前，就像一只无助的流浪小狗。我读起英语来分外吃力，一天都记不住十个单词。记得第一次英语测试满分是一百分，而我只考了六十一分，生生站在了及格的悬崖边上。
这给成绩优等的我带来了许多痛苦和压力，父母的批评更使我开始抵触英语，早读不读书了，单词也干脆不记了。可想想自己其他科目的成绩，哪科不是在班里名列前茅的，唯独英语，都快倒数了。如果就这样放弃，我怎么对得起辛苦教育我的老师，怎么对得起养育我的父母，又怎么对得起我自己。用一个星期调整情绪后，我开始了与英语的对抗，我要跨越楚河汉界，征服这一片英语的世界。
我把每天的单词音标抄下来贴在床头和课桌桌角。这样每天起床读一读，课前再读一读，久而久之就熟能生巧了。
对于听写，我也相信熟能生巧。一样的，我把单词贴在床头，桌角，做成小卡片拿在手里。排队时随时拿出来记忆，这样把零星的'时间凑起来，就能提高学习效率。有了学习方法，单词听写也被我打败了。而最让我头疼的语法，我则用联想法来记忆。把相关句子记下来，就能顺藤摸瓜，记住语法了。
后来，在第一次段考中，我的英语考了全年级最高分。这都要归功于学习的方法和坚持不懈的恒心。
