Since the establishment of the county system in 221 BC in the Qin Dynasty, Jinggang Mountain was a part of Luling County of Jiujiang Group, but Ciping was developed after 668 AD, and Dawujing was established after 1644 AD, and it was divided into Yongxin County and Longquan County (todays Zhuchuan County). It was not until 1928, during the Jinggangshan struggle period, that an independent administrative system was established here. In 1955, Jinggangshan Administration of Jiangxi Province was established, and in 1984, it was renamed Jinggangshan City.
