1、有时为使分词短语与主句关系更清楚，可在分词前加连词。 连词有： when，while，if though，after, before, as. 但分词的主语和主句的主语必须为同一个，如：
While waiting there, he saw two pretty girls come out of the building.
waiting 和saw 的主语相同。
2、“连词 + 分词短语”相当于“连词 + 从句”的意思，如：
After finishing (= after I finished) my homework, I went to bed right away.
How can he get good grades when not studying (=when he wont study)? 他不用功的话怎么拿高分呢?
If not understanding (= I do not understand) what he says, I always ask him. 我不懂他的话时, 总是去问他。
Ill call to see you this evening though being able to stay ( = though I can stay) only a few minutes. 今晚我一定去看你, 即使我只能停一会儿。
连词知识点
连词，顾名思义，是一种起连接作用的词。
1、and“和”，表示并列关系。
如：There are some desks and chairs in the classroom.
2、but“但是”，表示转折关系。
如：You can skate well,but Ican’t.
3、or“还是”，表示选择关系。
如：Would you like a glass of milk or a cup of tea?
注意：在疑问句或否定句中，当表示并列关系时，不用and，而用or。
如：Do you have any brothers or sisters?
I don’t have any brothers or sisters.
4、than“比”，表示对比关系。
如：SuHai jumps farther than SuYang.
5、because“因为”，表示因果关系。
如：I like summer best because I can go swimming.
6、so“所以”，表示结果关系。
如：Helen was ill, so she didn’t go to school yesterday.
分词知识点
分词就是具有动词及形容词二者特征的词，尤指以-ing或-ed,-d,-t,-en或-n结尾的英语动词性形容词，具有形容词功能，同时又表现各种动词性特点，如时态、语态、带状语性修饰语的性能及带宾语的性能。分词分为现在分词和过去分词两种，是一种非谓语动词形式。现在分词和过去分词主要差别在于：现在分词表示“主动和进行”，过去分词表示“被动和完成”（不及物动词的过去分词不表示被动，只表示完成）。分词可以有自己的状语、宾语或逻辑主语等。
1、分词前置
We can see the rising sun. 我们可以看到东升的旭日
He is a retired worker. 他是位退休的工人
分词后置 (i.分词词组;ii. 个别分词如given, left; iii. 修饰不定代词 something等)
There was a girl sitting there. 有个女孩坐在那里
This is the question given. 这是所给的问题
There is nothing interesting. 没有有趣的东西
2、过去分词作定语
与其修饰的词是被动关系，相当于一个被动语态的定语从句。
Most of the people invited to the party were famous scientists.
Most of the artists invited to the party werefromSouth Africa.
