　　Some people approve of this move. They think this is a bold attempt to reform the current university entrance system, which provides high-quality students and students talented in certain subjects with an opportunity to enter first – class universities and ensure that they aren’t overlooked simply because of their performance in the national university entrance exam. Meanwhile, it will push high schools to pay more attention to the students’ all – round development.

　　However, quite a few people are opposed to the move. In their opinion, it may lead to cheating. Besides, only 39 schools are qualified to recommend students, which is unfair to other schools across the country. Finally, there is no point giving extra scores to those recommended students, for they are mostly top students and have no difficulty entering Peking University.

　　As far as I’m concerned, I’m in favor of this reform. As the process of recommendation is transparent, cheating is impossible. Besides, we should support new reforms even if they are not mature.

　　Our platoon officer was a young PLA man, about twenty years old. He was very strict with us during the training and very kind to us afterwards. By talking with him, we came to know not only more information about army life, but also about military affairs. The military training gave us good discipline. It brought us great happiness, too. If the death penalty is canceled, the CRIminals will be more cruel and crazy, and that will be a bigger threat for people. In addition, cancelling the death penalty will weaken the effect of our laws.

　　一方面，有些人认为死刑不应该取消。他们讨论认为死刑可以作为对罪犯的威胁或限制。如果取消了死刑，罪犯会更加残酷，更加疯狂，这将是对人们的更大威胁。此外，取消死刑会削弱法律的作用。

　　On the other hand, some people consider that the death penalty should be canceled. They point out that no matter what the CRIminals have done, they are still human beings. Each life is precious and we should respect each life. Besides, we should give another chance for the criminals to remedy their mistakes and amend themselves.

　　另一方面，有些人认为死刑应该取消。他们指出，不管罪犯做了什么，他们终究还是人。生命都是宝贵的，我们应该尊重每一条生命。此外，我们应该给罪犯一个弥补过错，改过自新的机会。

　　Taking above into consideration, I am inclined to agree with the former. I suggest that we should remain the death penalty. Although the latter is right in some extent, I do not agree that those who murder deliberately should be forgiven and pardoned.

　　综上所述，我倾向于同意前者的观点。我建议保留死刑。虽然后者有一定的道理，但是我不认为故意杀人的人应该被原谅，被赦免。
